Moeran studied composition at the Royal College of Music with Sir Charles Stanford and John Ireland, who was a significant influence. Renowned particularly for his songs, he was also influenced by the music of Delius. Like Vaughan Williams, whom he admired, Moeran collected English folksongs. Much of his music was inspired by his Irish and East Anglian heritages including Six Norfolk Folksongs (1923) and Seven Poems of James Joyce (1929). Other work includes a sting Trio (1931), Symphony in G minor (1937)... more
