George Belcher was an etcher and painter, primarily of genre, sporting subjects and still life. After studying at Gloucester School of Art he drew for the Punch Almanac from 1906 and for Punch itself regularly from 1911, as well as for The Tatler and Vanity Fair. Belcher exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1909, was elected an Associate of the Royal Academy in 1931 and a Royal Academician in 1946.
