There is no authentic portrait of Tyndale. By the early 17th century a false type was in circulation and accepted by Henry Holland for the Herwologia (1620), a collection of portraits and biographies of notable individuals from the Tudor period, which was based on 'a portrait from a shop in Fleet Street'.
