Dolin was the first British male dancer to be acclaimed internationally. He appeared on stage in London as the Black Cat in Bluebell in Fairyland, 1915, and afterwards trained at the Italia Conti School and with Russian ballerina Serafina Astafyeva. Under the name Patrikéeff, he was engaged by Diaghilev to appear in The Sleeping Princess in 1921.
