Wyan was one of 200 women arrested during the Conciliation Bill demonstrations of March 1912. Her activism was marked by a commitment to the militant approach of the Women's Social and Political Union (WSPU) and strong support from her family. Following an arrest in 1913, she went on hunger strike and refused to be released under the Cat and Mouse Act, which sought to deal with the problem of hunger striking suffragettes by allowing their early release only to then recall them to prison once... more
