Exclusive Limited Edition: ‘Men's Where?' by Jamie Morgan, November 1984

To coincide with the exhibition The Face Magazine: Culture Shift, the National Portrait Gallery is delighted to present a limited edition A3 print of ‘Men's Where?' by Jamie Morgan, November 1984. This print comes housed in a protective outer folio with NPG monogram and ribbon closure, along with a numbered certificate. 

Featuring an image by photographer Jamie Morgan taken in 1984. Set on a grey-tonal backdrop with striking studio lighting, the British-Burmese model Nick Kamen, strikes a bold pose wearing a look that incorporates classic tailoring, a punk leather skirt and Doc Martens boots.

Styled by Ray Petri the image represents a radical approach to menswear that Morgan and Petri pioneered, defining the look of men’s fashion in the eighties.

Jamie Morgan worked closely with legendary stylist Ray Petri until Petri’s death from an AIDS-related illness in 1989, at the age of 40. Petri and Morgan are credited as the co founders of Buffalo, a creative collective whose attitude and style was brought to the public by magazines including The Face.

This print features an embossed stamp design of Jamie Morgan's signature.
