Political pamphleteer, poet, scholar and editor whose time at Cambridge University introduced him to the world of dissenting politics. Dyer welcomed the French Revolution and encouraged social and political reform in Britain. His pamphlets The Complaints of the Poor People of England(1793) and A Dissertation on Benevolence(1795) placed him at the forefront of the democratic reform movement.
