Painter; practiced as an illustrator in the first part of his career, most notably of the works of Rider Haggard, but also painted portraits and mythological subjects. Greiffenhagan was head of the life department at Glasgow College of Art, 1906-29, won a considerable reputation as a portraitist and also executed large-scale decorative works.
