Founder of The Ecologist (1969), publisher and editor of the magazine from 1970-89 and 1997-98. President of the Climate Initiatives Fund. Environmental campaigner and author of titles such as A Blueprint for Survival(1972), a three-volume study, The Social and Environmental Effects of Large Dams (1984, 1986, 1992 with Nicholas Hildyard) and The Way: an ecological world view (1992, with Jerry Mander).
