after Hans Holbein the Younger

Wyatt was a courtier and poet who, along with Henry Howard, Earl of Surrey, introduced the sonnet form into England from Italy. In 1536 he was temporarily imprisoned in the Tower as a result of his close association with the disgraced Boleyn family. Wyatt briefly held the lease of the monastic lands at Montacute, and died at Clifton Maybank nearby, the home of his friend Sir John Horsey.
