Painter and watercolourist. Nash's style was greatly influenced by serving with the Artists' Rifles during the First World War, and his name is particularly associated with war paintings such as We are Making a New World and The Menin Road. During the 1930s his abiding concern with landscape was modified by an interest in Surrealism, and he exhibited both found objects and paintings with Surrealist groups in 1936, 1937 and 1938.
