Author. Souhami has written several critically acclaimed books and plays for radio and television. Her biography of the author Marguerite Radclyffe Hall, The Trials of Radclyffe Hall (1999), was shortlisted for the James Tait Black Prize. Souhami won the 2001 Whitbread Biography Award for Selkirk's Island, the story of the Scottish sailor Alexander Selkirk (on which Daniel Defoe's Robinson Crusoe was based) who was stranded on a deserted island in the Pacific Ocean.
