This scene depicts representatives of the Indian Army who had successfully fought in the military campaign in Egypt of August and September 1882, being presented to the Duke and Duchess of Teck at Sutherland Manor, Wimbledon Park (where the men were quartered) on 18 November 1882. Three days later the men received campaign medals from Queen Victoria.
