Edwin Sandys was a puritan divine and reformer, famous for his learning and quarrelsome temper. He went in to exile under Mary I, but returned to England on the accession of Elizabeth I. He became successively, Bishop of Worcester, Bishop of London and Archbishop of York. He married Cicely, daughter of Thomas Wilford. The couple had seven sons and two daughters.
