Biochemist and protein crystallographer, Johnson's extensive research into the behavior of protein kinases has been crucial in finding the causes of diseases and determining how new drugs interact with particular proteins. A degree from the University of London in physiology was followed by gaining a PhD from The Royal Institution in biophysics.
